Job title: Chief Information Officer and Assistant Vice-President, Information Technology Services
Job description: Reporting directly to the Vice-President, Finance and Administration, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Assistant Vice-President Information Technology Services (ITS) will play a leadership role in mapping Dalhousie’s new Digital Strategy to actionable priorities, processes, and associated investments. A foundational, enabling companion to Dalhousie’s new Strategic Plan, the Digital Strategy will positively impact our core teaching, research, service and student-life missions, and transform processes and systems across administrative and support functions. The CIO works in partnership with senior leaders across the University and with the Libraries’ Academic Technology Services to develop and implement systems, uphold and establish progressive cybersecurity standards and supervise and support process improvement initiatives within the organization. The CIO will prioritize the alignment of accessible and sustainable information technology services across the University to ensure a service model approach that meets the needs of the University’s diverse internal and external stakeholder groups. The CIO manages a strong senior leadership team within ITS and an overall staff of more than 120 staff across three units.

As the ideal candidate, you bring significant, senior IT leadership experience alongside deep experience leading teams within a large complex organization and a multi-constituent environment. You have experience developing and achieving plans that support a cohesive high-quality user experience across diverse internal and external stakeholder groups. You have led the development and implementation of proactive cybersecurity plans and supported systems-wide change management initiatives. You are able to translate organizational strategy into concrete actions and processes to ensure key outcomes are met and possess the relationship building and negotiation skills required to move plans forward productively in a complex environment. You are an inclusive leader who listens and consults, and you have the ability to guide, influence, inspire and collaborate. You are passionate about continuous learning and eager to explore new developments in the IT field. Through innovative thinking, you will be able to enthusiastically pilot new IT initiatives to move Dalhousie forward. You are able to communicate effectively, using plain language, with diverse stakeholders. You are driven by strong personal values including integrity, transparency, and a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and inclusiveness.
