Job Description

Reporting to the Professional Practice Specialist, the Clinical Educator/Facilitator (CEF) for Inpatient Surgery and Rehabilitation will use adult learning principles to develop educational plans and programs in response to individual, unit or program learning needs. This position will also be responsible for clinical education support related to the pandemic to assist with onboarding, and ongoing support of our CMH staff.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: education, consultation, clinical leadership and research for the purposes of improving service care and delivery. The successful incumbent possesses outstanding communication and partnership skills and collaborates with managers to identify competencies relevant to job performance; and facilitates initiatives in alignment with organization, program and unit strategic priorities.

The CEF participates and collaborates with cross functional and multidisciplinary stakeholders in the development of standards, policies and procedures to drive exceptional patient care and service delivery by critically analyzing and advocating evidence-informed practices. The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse in good standing required
  • Diploma or Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Surgical and/or Rehabilitation Nursing
  • Master’s degree in Nursing is required
  • Recent formal education and experience in adult education within the past 2 years required
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning related to surgical/rehabilitation nursing is required
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
  • Demonstrated advanced critical thinking, process improvement/redesign, and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to engage teams
  • Professional practice experience in program planning, curriculum design, learning technologies, and facilitation skills within the past 2 years required
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office and Meditech required
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required.
