Computer Programmer – Technology Specialist Mississauga, Ontario, Canada
Duties:
- Working directly with SMEs (Subject Matter Experts or Product Managers)
- Participating in build tooling to automate monitoring, deployment, and employing DevOps and CI/CD capabilities
- Offering technical expertise and support across the entire portfolio of applications
- Managing requests to implement normal or emergency changes, releases, and capacity planning
- Coordinating disaster recovery, planning and execution
- Updating internal configuration management and risk systems
- Collaborating with members of the BCMA development group to conceptualize, design and develop new software applications in alignment with the technology strategy using Micro services for Cloud development and a variety of technologies including Mongo, Kafka and Java/J2EE
- Maintaining and improving existing applications owned by Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory (BCMA)
- Handling development and contributing to accreditation of Book builder platform integration with sales portal and ipreo
Requirement Gathering:
- Participating in requirement gathering sessions and supporting documentation where applicable (business, functional, UI, usability, data, compliance, data migration, NFR, 3rd party tools & products)
- Raising queries and getting clarification in areas which are unclear, ambiguous and which need more information for the Technology Lead
Resource/ Efforts Estimation and Monitoring:
- Understanding how the estimation (effort, size etc.) is done at the task level in the area of work concerned, measuring and reporting the actual effort against the estimated effort and ensuring that task progress reporting is done in the applicable tool
- Identifying and communicating technical problems, processes and solutions
- Preparing reports, manuals and other documentation on the status, operation and maintenance of software
Design and Analysis
- Creating the HL Design and detailed design document with the support of architects for the assigned scope
- Reviewing all deliverables created by the Developer
- Studying nonfunctional requirements and design for NFR as required
- Understanding the interdependencies of the various components in work packages being developed
- Creating a detailed design and assigning to a developer
- Providing input to the Project Manager / Technical Lead to create the project plan from a technical perspective
- Supporting development of proof of concept as designed by the Designer / Solution Architect.
- Initiating development environment setup
- Providing demos to customers for early feedback
- Creating quality check points for all deliverables
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field; a master’s degree in a related field is an asset
- 5+ years’ experience in the IT industry, specifically with experience in testing and coding
- 3+ years of experience with Java, including developing and managing award-winning product offerings within the financial and IT sector
- Experience with developing digital platforms and dealing with execution lifecycles for an equity and fixed income (DCM) business
- Experience with Capital Markets Technology for designing and implementing solutions; enabling trading and post-trade activities
- Hands-on experience with development and maintenance solutions covering several asset classes including equities, fixed income, and more
- Experience with the following technologies: CXF Web Services, (X) HTML, Fabric, UDDI, XML, web services, Fuse ESB, Karaf, Camel, SOAP/REST and WSDL
- Experience providing solutions for enterprise level integration of cutting-edge technology applications with legacy applications
- Strong domain knowledge of loan syndication, deal execution and allocations with good business understanding of banking and capital markets
