Job description: MARKHAM
WSP is currently seeking a Construction Administrator or Senior Construction Administrator, to join our Buildings – Structures department, located at our Markham or Toronto offices.
WSP has been selected as Consultant of choice, by several very prominent clients in the Buildings and Transportation sectors. As the design consultant on several major projects, we are looking to deploy a Construction Administrator to these projects.
As WSP’s representative, it is essential that the successful candidate brings a strong combination of technical capabilities and experience as well as an outgoing, friendly personality, capable of building and maintaining relationships with all stakeholders. These stakeholders will include the client, general contractors, sub-contractors and various trades.

A typical week will include….
- Work on Structural Engineering Team in a multi-disciplinary engineering practice;
- Oversee and perform construction administration duties;
- Conduct site reviews on multiple projects and perform quality control/constructability reviews on drawings and specifications prior to issuing documents for permit/tender;
- Issue Construction review reports and other reports as required.
- Review RFI’s and shop drawings against construction documents and issue responses to the team
- Facilitate clear and effective internal and external communication;
- Coordinate with design and technical staff on construction and CA practice issues;
- Provide on-going reviews and reports to management;
- Perform all other related tasks that will help accomplish the project;
- Other job duties as required.
We’d love to hear from you if you have….
- A Bachelor’s degree in structural Engineering or related field;
- Minimum 5 years of experience with a focus on the construction phase of projects;
- Full P.Eng licence with PEO is preferred but not essential;
- Sound technical and building structural systems knowledge, understanding of codes including the Ontario Building Code, design standards (concrete, structural steel, wood, masonry), and familiarity with Ontario construction practices;
- Excellent initiative along with attention to detail;
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to assess and prioritize jobs;
- Positive attitude/disposition.
- Excellent and proven communication skills with clients, contractors and authorities.
