Job title: Construction Apprentice

Job description: As an apprentice with Southern Design and Build (SDB) your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
– Working together with your Journeyperson / lead hand to meet desired timelines and quality expectations
– Work together with fellow Journeyperson and apprentices to further your knowledge in the trade
– Prep job sites while maintaining a clean and safe working environment

Southern Design and Build is looking for someone with:
– A minimum of 2 years experience in the trade
o A mechanical background for minor tool and vehicle repair would be a plus
– Have a valid drivers licence:
o Heavy haulers G endorsement is a plus.
– Experience in a mixture of commercial, residential, and agricultural is preferred
– Ability to follow direction while working with a group or independently
– The ability to work under pressure in a fast paced, quality driven environment
– Strong problem-solving skills and is very forward thinking
– Some knowledge in a variety of tasks in the carpentry trade would be a plus, these include but are not limited to:
o Vertical and flat concrete forming and prep
Vertical concrete placement
We do not place flat work
o Framing
o Interior and exterior finish
o Roof coverings
o Basic truck and tool maintenance
o Other beneficial experience would include:
Cabinetry
Precast concrete
Flat work concrete placement
Structural steel / pre engineered
