Job description: Responsibilities

Preliminary Planning for System Installations

  • Review field file with project manager to understand job requirements for materials and installation.
  • Ensure that all required materials and equipment are ready before starting work.
  • Purchase field materials not stocked by company that are necessary to complete installation.
  • Contact underground utility location services 72 hours prior to excavating.
  • Schedule subordinates and subcontractors to assist in system installations.

Installation of Cathodic Protection Materials

  • Supervise installation in accordance with job specifications and customer requirements.
  • Monitor progress of subordinates and subcontractors to ensure satisfactory job completion.
  • Notify supervisor of unanticipated field changes and suggest possible alternatives.
  • Revise installation plans as necessary to accommodate field conditions.
  • Take photographs of all construction sites before and after work.
  • Collect field data prior to the energization of cathodic protection system.
  • Energize system as directed by supervisor.
  • Prepare accurate dimensioned as-built drawings of installed system components.
  • Assist with operating, loading and transporting of heavy equipment and commercial vehicles as required.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Comply with all company policies, regulatory safety regulations, and code requirements
  • Maintain continuous and profitable working relationships with customers.
  • Conduct toolbox safety meetings and document equipment safety inspection audits.
  • Train all subordinates in accordance with company safety practices.
  • Attend company-sponsored safety training seminars and educational programs.
  • Document deficiencies in safety practices/equipment with supervisory staff.
  • Review subordinates’ time and expense reports prior to supervisor’s approval.
  • Review subcontractor billings prior to supervisor’s approval.
  • Operate and maintain company vehicles and equipment safely at all times.
  • Report vehicle and equipment maintenance requirements to supervisor.
  • Repair damaged equipment within the cost limits established by supervisor.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of company equipment.
  • Inform supervisor at every fiscal year of new capital expense requirements.
  • Document and record IFTA mileage reports for monthly tax payments by the company.
  • Restore jobsite to conditions found prior to beginning work.
  • Return unused materials to local warehouse with documentation to inventory control.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experienced and proficient in cathodic protection installations.
  • Requires significant field-construction exposure that may be gained through practical construction experience and/or a degree in engineering with good field/design experience.
  • Strong team and internal customer service skills are a must.
  • Incumbent must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Able to travel including significant overnight travel and over time on a regular basis (10/4 and 11/3)
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & medical testing is a condition of employment
  • Must have a Class 5 Driver’s License with reasonable Driver’s Abstract, Class 1 license is preferred.
