Job description: Our retail client is looking for a data scientist to join their team in a permanent capacity.

What & Why:
This role can be remote forever. They are undergoing a significant digital transformation and are investing heavily in their analytics programs. This organization is highly agile and has fully embraced the distributed workforce model. Your key responsibilities will be developing machine learning models to support decision making across the organization, leading large analytics projects involving multiple analysts by working with stakeholders, communicating results, and setting KPIs and working on embedding models into production technology systems. As the data science team is growing at our client you will also be responsible for coaching the analytics community on data science best practices and providing guidance on solving complex problems.

This role can be remote forever and located anywhere in Canada. If you are located in Vancouver and would like an office to call home our client is moving to a new office located in Mount Pleasant with hotel seating. This is an exciting time to join our client as they are embarking on an analytics journey and you will be able to help shape what that looks like for the organization. The product you will be working on has a very strong ROI and will be able to provide a lot of value back to the business. You will be a trusted advisor and have the ability provide a lot of guidance to the team on best practices.
You:
You will bring the following education, skills and experience to the role:
- 5+ years experience with applied data science, from requirement gathering to serving models, to solve business problems and generate revenue
- 3+ years experience managing and prioritizing project requests, frequently communicating insights, and strategies to a diverse set of stakeholders ranging from peers to senior executives
- Deep knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts, machine learning techniques and experience with their applications
- Follows software development best practices and has experience integrating data science projects into production environments
- Advanced knowledge of languages such as Python or R
- Experience transforming large scale data sets and building pipelines using SQL, Spark, or other big data technologies
- Strong understanding of experimental design (e.g. multivariate testing vs AB Testing, full factorial vs fractional factorial)
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
