Job Description
The Cloud and Big Data team is hiring Data Engineer/Senior Data Engineer to design and implement enhancements for their knowledge management platform. The position involves working with company specific and third-party data sources to derive views of our data, tuning search relevance, building out knowledge graphs and providing an intuitive user interface. Ideal candidates are passionate about designing and building scalable solutions in the cloud, following and encouraging best practices, and providing value to our business partners. Above all, they derive the highest satisfaction from achieving excellence, continuously expanding their knowledge and skills, and by being part of a collaborative team that strives to consistently improve processes.
The opportunity:
- Design solutions aligned with long-term architecture and technology strategy using Amazon Web Services (AWS) for Cloud development
- Gain exposure to a variety of technologies and AWS services by developing features for various components with AWS Glue, Elasticsearch, Amazon Neptune, REST APIs and GraphQL endpoints and an Angular 8 front-end
- Develop infrastructure as code for our CI/CD pipeline through Jenkins and Terraform
- Participate in the development life cycle from start to completion – requirements analysis, development, testing, and deployment
- Work with our collaborative team and along-side other teams to solve technically challenging problems
- Work closely with our partners in the Knowledge Organization to learn their processes and provide solutions to their requests
Qualifications
- 2+ years of technical experience as a Data Engineer – a diverse set of technical experiences are a nice-to-have
- University degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferred
- Strong knowledge of software development best practices and patterns
- Proficient programming skills in Java or Python
- Technical experience with the following would be nice-to-have: Angular 8, Elasticsearch, PySpark, Gremlin, GraphQL
- Familiarity building applications in an AWS environment
- AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Developer certification is an asset
- An understanding of CI/CD pipelines and experience with DevOps
- Experience building flexible solutions that can adapt quickly to changing requirements
- Polished communication and presentation skills – experience in presenting to and communicating with other technical teams and stakeholders
