Job description: Bring your demonstrated cybersecurity and information management skills to this exciting opportunity as Director, Information Security & Data Stewardship. In this role you will provide leadership and management to Fraser Health’s enterprise information and data stewardship program, working closely with multiple partners and stakeholders. You will establish strategic directions for Fraser Health; provide advisory services including training and education; and establish authority wide governance structures, policies and practices.

Position Highlights:

Bring your demonstrated knowledge of information security & data stewardship to this exciting role in our Health Informatics department. Do you have the ability to communicate information security and risk-related concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences at various hierarchical levels? These skills along with your detailed understanding of the function, process and integration of data networks, telecommunications, and data centre technologies and new Information Management/Information Technology technologies in a healthcare environment will make you an ideal candidate for this role.

  • Develop and execute an enterprise wide information security program, strategy and roadmap ensuring the continued management and protection of Fraser Health data and technology assets, working with PHSA Technology Services and other key stakeholders. •Establish policies, procedures, standards, definitions and guidelines that enable the organizational information security strategy and promote compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Support the governance of the security strategy, to promote appropriate organizational engagement and oversight. •Develop and maintain a program that informs executive, business unit and functional group leadership of the top security risks and overall security health of the organizations. Work with executive management to determine acceptable levels of risk for the organization. •Establish, implement and deliver communications and training initiatives to increase information security, cybersecurity awareness as well as support and promote the adoption of safe computing practices. •Create a framework for roles and responsibilities with regard to information ownership, classification, accountability and protection of information assets. •Negotiate service contracts and agreements with vendors such as application vendors and third party security services. •Collaborate and liaise with the data privacy officer to support the inclusion of data privacy requirements, where applicable. •Participate in the development, implementation and ongoing compliance monitoring of information security requirements; ensures FH’s continued alignment with regulatory information security requirement. •Provide leadership and direction to staff in conducting organizational Security Threat and Risk Assessments. •Identify and assess security threats, vulnerabilities and risks associated with Fraser Health’s ongoing operations; establish and maintain detection, containment and incident response capabilities to identify and mitigate cyber-attacks; oversee the evaluation, selection and implementation of information security tools. Work in partnership with PHSA Technology Services and others to coordinate all security related issues.

Are you motivated to join our team? We will be looking for you to have the following:

  • Master’s Degree in Computing Science or related discipline or equivalent level of education, training and experience •Seven (7) to ten (10) years’ experience in progressively more responsible information management roles •Recent experience working in data security and management within a large, complex organization as well as working knowledge of the health care industry •CISSP or equivalent certification is an asset

This full time position is based at our Central City offices in Surrey, BC, with access to rapid transit, shopping, restaurants, on-site gym and other amenities.
