Education Outreach Program Coordinator (Regina)

Job Summary:
Do you have a passion for the environment? Are you interested in connecting more people with nature? We are looking for two enthusiastic Education Outreach Program Coordinators to join our team in Regina this summer and take on a leadership role in connecting urban families with nature through our education programs.
Working under the Manager of Experiential Education, you will develop educational content and self-directed activities that help engage families in outdoor experiences and conservation activities. You will also support the ongoing development of our education programs by identifying and working to address barriers that prevent urban residents from connecting with nature.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop both their written and verbal communications skills, as well as gain hands-on training in environmental education techniques.
This is an entry-level position. Successful candidates will receive hands-on, skills-based training and mentoring to empower and equip them to further their careers in the fields of Environmental Education, Outreach and Communications.

Responsibilities:
Community Activities
- Connecting with local community groups to identify opportunities to engage key demographics in nature education and outdoor programs. (e.g. new Canadians, inner-city families, low income families, minority groups, etc.)
- Working with community partners to plan and deliver self-directed family-friendly activities online and in urban parks and green spaces (in accordance with provincial health guidelines) throughout the summer.
Research & Data Collection
- Conducting primary and secondary research to gain insights into the needs, interests, and barriers faced by urban residents when it comes to connecting with nature.
- Tracking and reporting on engagement metrics, such as participation in self-directed activities.
Communications
- Creating written and video content for CWF’s blog, email newsletters, and social media channels to help engage and educate urban audiences about local opportunities to connect with nature.
- Developing promotional materials to help engage urban families in self-directed events and activities throughout the summer.
Eligibility:
This position is a part of the Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible for this position, you must:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment*;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
*The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
**International students are not eligible participants.
Qualifications:
- Either completion or current enrollment in applicable post-secondary education (Communications, Education, Environmental Studies, etc.)
- Experience with Microsoft Office. This includes Outlook, Excel, Word, and Microsoft Teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including confidence in public speaking.
- Excellent writing skills, with experience writing for a public audience.
- Independent self-starter.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Interest in community engagement, nature conservation and environmental education.
Assets:
- Previous experience in environmental outreach and/or education.
- Design, multimedia and/or social media skills.
- Bilingual written/oral in any other language.
Work Conditions
- Full-time at 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This position is for a 9-week term.
- Wage: $11.45 per hour

- Location: These positions require candidates to work from their own home office.
