Registered Veterinary Technician, Team Medicine/Triage – Emergency
The Registered Veterinary Technician (Emergency Triage) is a full-time permanent position. Hours of work are 70 hours bi-weekly, following a rotation. Shifts vary from 8 to 12 hours in length. Schedule is a mix of weekdays afternoon/evenings and every second weekend. This position reports directly to the Technical Resources Manager, Emergency.
Responsibilities
As a key player in a team environment, the Emergency Triage Veterinary Technician is responsible for the following:
- Patient Assessment
- Obtaining history from clients
- Triage of incoming ER patients based on history and TPR
- Care of ill patients
- Client updates over the phone or in person
- Record keeping
- Keeping clients up to date with waiting times and setting appropriate expectations
- Stocking, cleaning, and, maintenance of Emergency area
- Math calculations
Qualifications
Required:
Veterinary Technician college diploma
Fluent in English (Reading, Writing and Oral); Bilingualism is an asset
Able to support patients up to 50kg and lift up to 25kg.

Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations; Thrive in a fast-paced environment, Time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks / projects; Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills Proven ability to organize, take initiative, work independently, exercise good judgment; Decision-making and critical thinking skills; Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships with professionalism and integrity; Exhibit a positive attitude and use courtesy, diplomacy and discretion; and, Maintain professional ethics and confidentiality.
