Job description: Irving Shipbuilding Inc., located at 3099 Barrington Street Halifax NS B3K 5M7, is part of the J.D. Irving Group of companies and is in the business of building quality ships and repairing vessels. The company’s primary site is Halifax Shipyard, with three other locations in the Maritime Provinces. Irving Shipbuilding is currently working on a number of significant projects for the Department of National Defence.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a 4 year Engineering program (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Naval Architecture) or Computer Science
  • Years of Experience Required:

2 years * Experience in the following: report writing, data preparate, relationship database, data mining

  • Advanced knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite
  • SQL, Tableau and Alteryx Knowledge would be an asset
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Assist readily and be a team player within the shipbuilding environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform moderate data preparation to support the development of the business reports, dashboards and data extracts
  • Deliver multiple layer reports and dashboards based on business reporting requirements
  • Develop multi-layer reports and dashboards with our standard application suite based following our standard processes
  • Advise on Data Warehouse development opportunities
  • Advise on new Data Entities for the Replicated Data Store
  • Incorporate simple Data Quality checks into Dashboards
