Job title: Engineering Intern/Co-op

Job description: Bunge is offering a unique opportunity for an individual to join the Harrowby team and participate in a comprehensive co-op program. The successful candidate will be exposed to the day to day running of a Bunge facility in the areas of manufacturing, maintenance and engineering over a 4-month period. As a co-op student you will develop the skills and knowledge to provide a foundation in all aspects of operational management that includes engineering, maintenance and safety management.

Core Functions:

  • Participate in the day-to-day running of a Bunge facility. Skills developed may include people management (leadership skills), effective communication techniques and project management.
  • Learn safe operating practices and work to maintain and improve facility safety to support the company and division safety goals and initiatives. Conduct facility safety meetings, root cause analysis and understand all accident/incident handling procedures.
  • Support the Engineering, Production and Maintenance department through equipment and process investigations. Students will communicate findings and recommendations to facility management.

Skill/Experience Requirements:

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or certificate in Engineering. Preferably Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of anorganization.
  • Must foster and sustain excellent relations with other departments, peers and co-workers.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Experience with project management software and AutoCAD is an asset.
  • Ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting work priorities, ambiguity, adversity and change.
  • Must be a self-directed individual, well organized, goal oriented and an excellent problem solver.
  • Must be eager to utilize the experience to take on more roles/tasks if time permits.
  • A safety-oriented mindset is an asset. Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating a commitment to safety at school, work, or at home.
