As a Manager of Engineering on the Builder Tools team, you will be leading a team of Software Developers who are working on tools at the heart of Ada’s product. Builder Tools focuses on providing a high quality experience for companies when they are building bot content, creating workflows, and in the on-going development of their bots.

The manager of this team helps identify opportunities for development and articulates tradeoffs between the many projects the team could take on. Your day to day will include mentoring and managing a team of highly motivated developers while collaborating with Product Managers to ensure we are delivering valuable and scalable software. This role will also influence Engineering practices to help create a healthy and collaborative organization.

Responsibilities

  • Support and manage the day to day work of product engineers to ensure that we are maintaining a healthy balance of new product development and ongoing maintenance to keep our product healthy.
  • Oversee implementation and maintenance of monitoring and alerting systems around products in development.
  • Work with teams to develop technical roadmaps to support Engineering goals as an essential part of our Product roadmap.
  • Develops career paths for direct reports and helps team members grow.
  • Works closely with plan, build, run and foundation to support key business applications.
  • Collaborate during design phases to account for critical topics, such as security, cost, performance, and deployment.
  • Partner with Tech Support Engineers, Customer Success Managers, Product Managers, and fellow Engineers to prioritize and resolve bugs.
  • Develop lightweight project management systems to communicate project impact and status to fellow engineering teams.
  • Designs opportunities for engineers to collaborate with client facing teams as part of software development practices.

About You

  • Experience with leadership or mentoring of teams and individuals.
  • Strong communications skills in writing or presentations.
  • Have experience working on teams in a high growth startup situation.
  • Worked In Agile software development environment
  • Familiarity with with integrating customer feedback into engineering development practices
  • Strong skills around assessing the balance between quality and production readiness for new features and products.
  • Excited to solve customer problems through feature development and product expansion.
