This is a new role in our Finance Systems Team (6 colleagues) in British Gas Energy and is to help manage the impacts of government mandated changes in the energy supply space (Energy Bills Support Schemes). You’ll lead the functional data governance and control of the finance systems landscape and ensure systems and financial integrity is maintained. You’ll liaise with stakeholders in the business and translate requirements into actionable projects to be delivered with the support of the Finance Systems Manager Data.

You can be attached to any of our UK offices and work on a hybrid basis under our Flexible First scheme for flexible working.

The Role

In this functional finance systems’ role you will help shape the strategic direction and best practice of the financial systems across British Gas and wider Group. You’ll manage virtual teams including external and third parties to deliver and represent finance on projects impacting finance. Working closely with Service Delivery Managers and SaaS provider(s) you will support service requests and incidents. You’ll provide finance systems change control and ensure any change is impact assessed and controlled by a robust risk framework. You’ll collaborate with business stakeholders on improvements to systems utilising your financial operational experience to help translate requirements into executable project plans with the Finance Systems Manager Data and the rest of the Finance Systems team.

The Person

You’ll have to be qualified as an accountant and have managed system changes. You will have a good working knowledge of Billing and/or ERP systems and their related reporting systems and interfaces. (e.g SAP IS_U, SAP ERP, ENSEK). Some data experience would be helpful. You will have an eye for the detail and able to collaborate and communicate succinctly at the right level of detail for the audience. Experience with billing systems is required and a track record of delivering finance system improvements.
