Job Description
Based in Ontario, the Health and Safety Advisor will take direction from the Director, Health and Safety and support AIM’S Feeder Yards and the Kenny U- Pull locations in Ontario. In close collaboration with the H&S team and Site Managers, the incumbent will be responsible to plan, organize, coordinate, monitor and review of H&S activities pertaining to accidents, Safe Return to Work and Occupational Diseases prevention for their client groups.
Responsibilities:
- Support the development of an H&S culture with all managers / employees for their designated client groups
- Advises, collaborates and supports managers with regard to related strategical H&S initiatives, programs, procedures and tool
- Perform regular inspections of workplaces and work practices to ensure that safety rules and regulatory requirements are respected
- Performs occupational risk analysis and proposes preventive measures
- Conducts investigations and analyze work related accidents with managers
- Support and audit the adequacy and effectiveness of preventive measures
- Participate and collaborate with regulatory and third parties for inspections or investigations, fire services , etc.)
- Respond to employees and internal / external customers’ occupational health and safety information requests
- Plans and performs internal trainings sessions and monitor completion of all mandatory H&S trainings
- Track and report on various H&S metrics and key indicators
- Conduct orientation session for new hires and participate in on-boarding activities as required
- Support the rollout of corporate/H&S programs, policies, and other initiatives
- Prepares and leads sites’ Health and Safety Committees
- Performs all other related tasks related to his duties.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have:
- A minimum of college related H&S diploma or university certifications
- Five years of experience in a similar position
- Knowledge of Ontario’s laws and regulations pertaining to occupational H&S
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required
- Has excellent planning, organization and adaptation skills
- Impeccable attention to detail is an absolute must
- Possess technical skills acquired in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Demonstrate rigor, ability to lead several files at the same time
- Has initiative, autonomy and a developed customer approach
- Strong MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) proficiency
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and high-pressure situations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to think outside the box
- Maintain discretion, confidentiality, and diplomacy in everything you do.
- Hold a valid driver’s license and be available to travel between the various sites of the company.
