DIMENSION & SCOPE:
Problem-solving: Business analysts are often tasked with identifying challenges within the organization and then implementing certain procedures and processes to overcome them. Strongly developed problem-solving skills are crucial in this role.
Communication: Business Systems analysts use various forms of written and verbal communication to gather information about a business and create reports. Analysts are required to communicate with team members of all levels.
Technical: Technical skills are also important in the Business Systems Analyst role. Requirement’s definition, System testing, Upgrading, troubleshooting and implementing new hardware programs is one of the requirements of a systems analyst.
Project management: A business system analyst often works in a project team environment. Strongly developed organizational and time management skills are important to move a project from beginning to completion.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Product Area Owner
Develop trusted relationship with stakeholders in People & Culture to understand their requirements and drive them towards adapting best practices and features.
Maintain expertise on new functionality/features/capabilities in Workday, wider industry and technology trends
Define the roadmap for the modules you support in Workday, incorporating the planned enhancements, releases from Workday and new deployments in partnership with SME’s.
Work directly with SMEs and COEs to understand the individual needs of the business and to develop the technical roadmap (including Workday) for specific functional areas (e.g., Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Total Rewards, etc.)
Analyze current business processes and make recommendations for improvement based on industry trends and professional business knowledge
Improve training and operational procedures within a business to increase efficiency and productivity
Create and present reports to P&C leadership team members and SMEs to support recommendations
Use a variety of data analysis & organization tools to discover the most impactful insights!
Champion recommendations for continuous improvement including using technologies such as AI to give Ciena a competitive advantage through its deployment of Workday.
HR Technology Implementations
Implements new systems and conducts user training in the use and features of systems and applications and other areas as needed (requirements, configurations, testing, training)
HR Technology Production Support
Work with IT to schedule, prioritize and implement all enhancements using JIRA and Freshdesk
Workday, or other HR technologies, configuration for projects and/or production support
Performs testing activities to ensure development/configuration work meets user requirements, such as functional testing, end-user testing, developing testing criteria to drive test script.
Monitor impact of enhancements across all functional areas in Workday and ensure these are highlighted as part of design and testing phases
Provide Level 3 Support / advice on complex issues to IT
Provide and support ad hoc reports as needed.
Creates user guides, system workflow and application documentation as needed, including creating standard operating procedures
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
6 – 8 years HRIS /IT experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
3+ year experience configuring Workday preferred (expertise in 2 or more modules)
3+ years HR application analysis/support experience
5+ years of experience working with data, business process design and documentation
Prior experience in the design, configuration and maintenance of Workday HCM
Experience providing production support of HR Technology solutions, such as solving longer-running user issues; troubleshoots independently based on knowledge of application
May manage small projects
Proficient in use of Microsoft Applications such as MS Project, Word, Power Point, Excel & Visio.

Process improvement, Abilty to Prioritize, Organizational skills, Interpersonal skills, Verbal and Written communication, Auditing, and Analytical skills.
Strong knowledge of human resources policies, procedures, and practices. Keeps abreast of current trends and changes in HR / People & Culture technology.
Deep subject matter expertise of at least 2 – 3 modules of Workday HCM including upgrades/new features management
Delivery focused, with high energy and drive, and ability to deliver working with IT
Creative solutioning and strong problem-solving skills with agility for fast and simple solutions
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with superior presentation and written skills for both technical and non-technical audience
