Since 2012, we have invested more than $400 million in facilities, people, processes, and technology, making Halifax Shipyard one of the most modern and capable shipyards in North America. Over the next 30 years our shipbuilders will construct 20+ modern patrol ships and surface combatants for the Royal Canadian Navy as part of Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy, the largest defence procurement in Canadian history. This year we delivered the second lead Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship, the largest Navy ship built in Canada in 50 years and we’re just getting started. The third ship will be delivered in 2022.

Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a IDE Analysis & Architecture Co-Op Student.
This is a Co-Op role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. The IDE Analysis & Architecture Co-Op Student will be responsible for development and implementation of an Integrated Data Environment (IDE) to support the Ship Design, Ship Build activities during the CSC Definition and Implementation Contract.
Qualifications:
- Academically qualified in Engineering with a recognized university bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Business or similar.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent communication skills – listening, written and oral.
- Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to plan and prioritize work.
All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of business, functional and non-functional requirements and use cases.
- Assist with stakeholder management, user support, analysis, development, user acceptance testing and production delivery coordination in accordance with IDE Release Schedule.
- Design, configure and write test cases for system, integration and user acceptance testing and coordinate and conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) readiness and UAT execution.
- Assist in the development of business processes to enable utilization of IDE capability.
- Assist in development, test, and implementation of IDE capability enhancements and bug fixes. Provide operational support to CSC with any opportunities of business process improvement.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal (Halifax Shipyard, CSC Program personnel) and external stakeholders (Sub-Contractors and Government of Canada).
- Provide business support for capabilities including but not limited to, Product Data Management, Material Requirements Planning, Cable Management, Drawing Management, NC Data, etc.
- Assist JDI IT technical teams and provide technical and business knowledge and expertise in IDE solutions deployed to support the CSC program.
