Overview
The Information Security Lead will have overall responsibility for establishing the company information security framework toward maintaining a secure environment for WFS. This role will ensure the organization follows cybersecurity best practices and adheres to compliance standards while ensuring risk to the organization’s information is minimized. The Information Security Lead will also coordinate incident response activities in the event of a cyber-attack or data breach to promptly and effectively address the root cause(s), recommending, and implementing solutions to minimize recurrence.
Position Responsibilities
Technical Management Responsibilities:
- Monitor Westport Fuel Systems global networks for security breaches and investigate violations when they occur
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-wide cybersecurity framework, policies, and procedures
- Direct the installation and use of security tools (e.g., firewalls, data encryption), to protect sensitive information
- Recommend security and privacy enhancements and continuous improvements to IT leadership team
- Ensure that IT security audits are conducted periodically or as needed (e.g., when a security breach occurs)
- Manage and configure physical security, disaster recovery and data backup systems
- Communicate information security goals, best practices and new programs effectively with other department managers within the organization
- Identify problematic areas of the IT infrastructure and implement strategic solutions to minimize and mitigate risks
- Develop and implement security standards and best practices for the organization, which align user needs and system functionality
- Manage security testing platforms, including leading forensic investigation and mitigation procedures
- Ensure that software and hardware selection, configuration, and installation meet WFS Enterprise security criteria
- Ensure that network, servers, and technology tools are managed and maintained following best practices and meet security and privacy requirements
- Research and remain current with new technology security trends and latest security threats
- Support the development of programs to train staff on cyber-security (including risks posed by a variety of cyber threats, applications and devices), lead security trainings and communicate policies
- Provide internal advisory services on safe/secure data collection, data transfers, data storage, use of social media, mobile devices, apps, and other relevant means of information sharing
Health & Safety responsibilities
- Promote Westport’s H&S culture by leading by example in relation to Environmental, H&S policies and procedures and understand your obligations and responsibilities as it relates to applicable H&S Acts and Regulations
- Enforce Westport’s H&S policies and procedures, encourage safe work practices, correct unsafe acts or conditions, conduct formal and informal workplace inspections
- Immediately respond to, investigate and take action from reports of unsafe conditions and/or behaviors
Position Requirements
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field or equivalent
- 10+ years of Information Technology experience, 3+ of which should be in leadership role
- 5+ years of experience in application security, information risks, and developing security threat solutions
- Demonstrated technical knowledge in IT infrastructure and cloud computing
- Experience in cybersecurity framework (NIST or other)
- Rigorous budget management in accordance with annual IT budgets related to cybersecurity improvements
- Highly flexible and able to quickly adapt to changing priorities to manage strict timelines
- Strong business acumen; change management, negotiation, and facilitation skills
- Highly organized, self-motivated, customer oriented and able to work independently as well as within a team
- Excellent problem solving and attention to detail. Able to manage multiple deadlines/projects and keep key players informed
- Possesses exceptional strategic thinking, planning and relationship skills
