Job Description
An exciting Temporary Full-Time opportunity as an Instructional Designer exists in the Information Management/Information Technology reporting to the Manager, Clinical Applications.
Reporting to the Clinical Applications Manager IM/IT, the Instructional Designer works closely with application coordinators and end users to develop training programs for their assigned application(s). This role will develop a thorough understanding of their assigned Epic application(s) and related training materials through Epic certification, and will develop a detailed understand related organizational workflows. The Instructional Designer will coordinate and implement the training program for end users, and build, test and maintain a training environment. This role is responsible for maintaining training materials and plays an active role in maintaining training related policy and procedure documentation.
Summary of Duties, but not limited to:
Project Coordination and Reporting
– Work closely with the stakeholders (i.e. department managers/directors, project leads, customers/end users) to ensure project plans reflect the department needs, including but not limited to outlining detailed activities, resources, constraints and training.
– Maintain all related project documentation such as status reports and risk logs.
– Develop quality objectives which can be used to measure expected outcomes
– Responsible for identifying any project /resource risks throughout the project and escalating them on a timely basis to both the Manager of Clinical Applications and the Project Sponsors.
– Lead and provide direction in the documenting of outcomes from workflow validation sessions
– Develop and implement change control procedures to manage project scopes
– Ensure that all projects are on-time, providing status updates to the stakeholders on a regular basis
– Provide details to inform the project scope and requirements including but not limited to providing a business case, detailed targets, and identified solutions
Training
– Designs training programs, including classroom lectures, online courses, and self-study sessions, directed at employees, or those who use the organization’s computer applications
– Conducts assessment and analysis to identify new development needs and recommends training methods accordingly
– Develops and updates course content and coordinates learning curriculum
– Deliver training, or “train-the-trainer” as required
– Create and provide on-line user manuals
– Define evaluation methodology and tools to be used post training sessions for the purposes of identifying opportunities for improvement of the training
– Facilitate and obtain user sign-off from appropriate committees for training plans, methodology and content
– Provide full support on quality assurance, including training plans, training documentation and one on one client support.
User Support
– Provides user support to address critical production problems by providing additional training as required
– Act as liaison between user departments, application coordinators and IM/IT team
– Maintain ongoing contact with software suppliers regarding user feedback, problem/issue identification and resolution
– Review system and software upgrades to provide training and user support for users, trainers and unit support staff post-implementation

Qualifications
- University Degree in Health Informatics, IM/IT, Health Information or training in a related discipline of health studies or equivalent education/experience
- PMP certification preferred
- Minimum 5 years of related experience in providing training / teaching working directly with stakeholders/ end users
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, and exceptional interpersonal skills
- Must have excellent time management and organizational skills
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Visio and Project
- Strong problem solving and resolution skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to oversee several projects with competing priorities.
- Superior problem identification, analysis and resolution skills
- Excellent customer service and engagement skills
- Strong understanding of clinical work flow requirements
- Strong team player and work well independently
- Good work and attendance record required
