Your Challenge

We are looking for a Lead, Information Technology and Automation to support our Biologics Manufacturing Center (BMC). The selected candidate would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.
The new Biologics Manufacturing Centre (BMC), currently under construction by the NRC, will help to accelerate Canada’s capacity to produce, access and supply vaccines and other biologics. Certified as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliant, the facility will have full end-to-end production capability for mammalian cell-based biologics. This includes a production capacity of approximately 4000 litres per month, upstream and downstream processing, a fill and finish system, a quality control lab, secondary packaging, and related logistics management of final products. In the short-term, the BMC’s top priority and focus is to help secure the production of a COVID-19 vaccine for Canadians as quickly as possible, once one is approved by Health Canada. In the longer term, the BMC’s focus will be on providing innovative solutions for the domestic production and supply of novel biologics for the future, while providing Canada with access to a facility that is ready to respond to emergencies, such as a pandemic.
Under the leadership of the Manager, Facilities & Engineering, the Lead IT and Automation is the expert for the infrastructure and computerized systems of the plant, laboratory and warehouse. The candidate ensures compliance with current regulations, the validation process of the infrastructure and systems and the site’s IT security.
Once the systems will be set-up, he or she will be responsible for:
- Recruiting, developing and managing the team responsible of the site’s IT (network and security administrator, systems administrator and systems validation specialist).
- Develops, implements, validates, secures and manages processes and programs for the management of computerized infrastructure and systems, all in compliance with regulations
- Ensuring the IT security of the site.
- Managing the IT service contracts
- Implementing the programs ofthe life cycle, enhancement and project management of the infrastructure and computerized systems
Screening Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:
Education
Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a Technical College diploma in Computer Science or related field.
An equivalent combination of education and direct experience may be considered.

Experience
- Extensive experience in information technology
- Extensive experience with a variety of technologies and automation systems (Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Quality Management System (QMS), Historian, EMS and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) software)
- Significant experience in the planning, delivery, management, integration and support of IT projects, infrastructure systems, services or platforms.
- Experience in recruitment, coaching and staff development
- Experience in audit

Technical Competencies
- Knowledge of Information Technology trends, hardware and software technologies and IT architectures.
- Knowledge of the IT challenges related to the operations of a Good Manufacturing Practices pharmaceutical facility.
- Strong analytical, design and development skills including troubleshooting and integration of IT services.

Competency Profile(s)
For this position, the NRC will evaluate candidates using the following competency profile:
Relocation
Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with the NRC’s directives.
Salary Range
From $102,383 to $124,163 per annum.
In addition, the incumbent will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
An incumbent occupying a position within the CS Group is currently entitled to receive a terminable allowance of $248 per month.
