Job title: Line Cook

Job description: 1. Prepare food of consistent quality, following company recipes and portion standards.

2. Date all food containers and rotate as per hotel standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures.

3. Complete prep, freezer pull, and line set up. Note or report any out-of stock items or possible shortages.

4. Assist in preventing food cost problems, control food waste, loss and usage.

5. Operate, maintain and properly clean all kitchen equipment such as; deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill.

6. Ensure rotation of stock and the storage of all food items in accordance with health & safety regulations.

7. Assist as requested with the receiving & storage of food orders.

8. Perform opening and closing duties applicable to the position and be competent in the completion of all duties within the shift.

9. Ensure all kitchen equipment/surfaces including knives are used/cleaned correctly and defective equipment being immediately reported.

10. Assist with kitchen steward/wash up duties as delegated to maintain the efficiency of the kitchen.

11. Be competent in the safe and efficient use of equipment.

12. Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.

13. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned

Exigences

• Able to work on a line, in a busy environment with high volume of orders in short periods.
• Minimum 3 years experience cooking on the line.
• Professional training an asset.
• Must have the ability to communicate in English. Knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset.
• Self-starter, able to work independently.
• Professional appearance and manner.
• Communicates well with co-workers.
• Team player.
• Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, move goods weighing 25lbs or more regularly.
• Willing to relocate to Iqaluit
• Must be currently eligible to work in Canada
