In this leadership role, you will lead a team of data engineers and data modelers accountable for all data projects across the organization. You will support and enable your team in managing high complexity projects that require strong leadership and engineering skills during the design, implementation, and sustainment phases of the solutions. You will build a strong data engineering and modelling delivery practice with standards and controls oversight being your primary focus. You will also act as a leader in the internal / external data community, committees, and associations, influencing developments in your field of expertise.
Minimum Requirements:
Experience leading Data Engineering, Data Modelling or equivalent teams
Experience and knowledge in cloud data management, storage and processing
Experience in dimensional data modelling, business process mapping, and information lifecycle mapping
Deep knowledge of data integration tools techniques, and methodologies
Experience in DataOps and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) principles and tooling to ensure continuous delivery and automation of data pipelines
Experience in IT related project development and execution, including lean and agile principles
Responsibilities:
Drive enterprise strategies related to data engineering and modelling, which measurably deliver on corporate value drivers and goals
Provide expert advice to leadership and project stakeholders on advanced practices in information and data engineering and data modelling
Be accountable for data engineering design, delivery and sustainment through strategic direction and influence
Develop employee resourcing and development plan with a focus on building and supporting future work or people leaders
Develop and maintain a partner strategy to manage project resource demands and industry thought leadership
Work with leadership peers to prioritize work that will assist in resource demand management and strategies
Location and other Key Details:
You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
