Job title: MANAGER, ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
Job description: Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer looking for the opportunity to lead your own team of engineers?
Our client, a leading engineering firm, is looking to expand its engineering capabilities to include electrical/instrumentation services to its clients. They have a full compliment of structural and mechanical engineers and designers capable of handling multi-discipline projects and would like to add an engineering team to increase its service offering.
Responsibilities:
- Grow, manage, and lead your own team of electrical engineers
- Integration of field instrumentation, sensory devices and the associated safety systems into an overall controls package to enable a fully functional industrial control system
- Application of regulations to area of expertise and ensuring compliance
- Incorporation of safety and risk analysis into equipment designs
- Electrical systems designed to support other disciplines
- Perform engineering calculations
- Ability to work with minimal instruction, complete tasks independently, make decisions and take responsibility on technical matters
- Coordinate with various people to allocate resources required for project implementation
- Build client relationships and respond to client requests
- Industrial site reviews and evaluations for design verification / implementation
- Write and review technical reports, and construction specifications
- Travel to various client sites, attend project meetings and conduct field reviews
Requirements:
- Management experience with the ability to lead and develop a team of engineers
- Senior level experience in electrical design
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) is a must
- Working knowledge of industrial instrumentation, controls, communications and automation
- Working knowledge of CSA standards, ANSI standards, IEEE standards, Ontario Building Code, and other applicable codes
- Control system (PLC, DCS, HMI) programming ability a benefit
- Working knowledge of power and/or control systems, modelling software a benefit
- Must be able to attend industrial sites and observe all applicable safety regulations
- Project experience in mills, smelters, mines, industrial sites, infrastructure, refinery, material handling, pulp and paper is beneficial
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Must possess a team player attitude and be able to work in project team environment
- Must be able to work on multiple projects at any given time and manage workload according to resources available, deadlines, etc.
