Job Description:

The Manager, Finance and Accounting Education is responsible for providing strategic and tactical leadership for designing and delivering finance and accounting training and education strategies.

Reporting to the Director, Global Finance Strategy and Enablement, you will wear several hats: project manager, trusted advisor, consultant, and change agent. Bouncing between the big picture and then rolling up your sleeves to do the tactical work. you will provide oversight to the CPA leadership program (Canada) and collaborate with the finance leadership team, internal and external partners, and business groups to inculcate a continuous learning culture under the finance function.

What will you do?

Training and Education:

Oversee and manage the design, integration, and implementation of finance and accounting education and training programs that include but are not limited to functional and technical skills (SAP Suite, MFE, IFRS 17, etc.) for new hires, cross functional moves, existing employees, etc.

Consulting and Advising:

Partner with finance leaders to support development of short-term and long-term finance and accounting training and education programs and plans: needs assessment and gap analysis, identification of skills, assess internal and external training options (cost, ROI, ease of use etc.), and session plan and content.

Act in a consultative capacity to assist managers and supervisors on identifying the education and training needs of their teams and develop finance annual training and education plans.

CPA Leadership Program:

Lead and manage the CPA Leadership program to develop a roster of strong, competency-rich CPA roles as well as addressing process breakdowns in a timely manner.

Enhance the programs by keeping abreast of external and internal changes by soliciting feedback from all stakeholders.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

Master’s or bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, human resources, adult learning, corporate training, etc.

CPA designation and/or master’s certificate in Adult Training and Development would be considered an asset.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Excellent communication and presentation skills to interact with all levels, including senior management and executives.

5+ years’ experience leading training and development team/strategy in large multi business global organizations.

Preferred:

Experience in Finance and Accounting practices and processes will be considered an asset.

Experience working in the insurance industry or a large financial institution will be considered an asset.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
