Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing the Manager, Marketing & Brand is responsible for managing campaigns and programs that are focused on brand awareness, audience development and revenue generation for the Festival as well as TIFF’s year-round activities and initiatives.

With expertise in media planning/buying, advertising, marketing and brand management, the Manager, Marketing will develop and implement integrated marketing campaigns, is the day-to-day lead on multiple marketing portfolios and will ensure that TIFF brand guidelines are adhered to.

The Manager, Marketing is passionate about advertising, marketing and communications and is a team-oriented individual who is a problem-solver and solution-oriented. They are able to work within a dynamic environment and balance multiple priorities. They are highly motivated and are excited to collaborate with others and have the ability to build on ideas. This role oversees the work of the Marketing Coordinator.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and manage strategies that include earned, owned and paid channels
  • Collaborate with creative and marketing teams to develop campaigns across print, out-of-home, digital, social and video channels
  • Work with third-party vendors including agencies and production partners to deliver campaigns
  • Oversee branding sign-off to ensure all TIFF branded elements follow guidelines
  • Manage third-party vendor relationships including agencies and creative production partners
  • Prepare marketing and creative briefs and collaborate with creative and marketing teams to deliver campaigns across print, out-of-home, digital, social and video channels
  • Resource planning and coordination with other Brand & Media teams; supervising, guiding and providing feedback to the Marketing Coordinator as a direct report
  • Manage communication and marketing exchanges between community and media partners
  • Manage on-site branding throughout the year and off-site Marketing events
  • Oversee the gathering of data and extrapolate key learnings from our network of platforms
  • On-time and on-budget delivery of campaigns and programs including planning, tracking, execution and reporting
  • Work with third-party vendors, use platform and audience insights to contribute to the execution of best-in-class paid media campaigns
  • Develop and execute on paid social campaigns including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok
  • Oversees efforts in the preparation of marketing support decks and post-campaign reports to share with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manages the development of promotional, influencer, cultural community partnerships and contesting
  • Oversee TIFF’s year-round and Festival digital and in-cinema pre-shows
  • Manage workflows to ensure timelines, budgets and objectives are managed and met
  • Within the context of the established processes, exercise judgement to identify diagnose and solve operational issues
  • Establish team targets and monitor activities to meet monthly or quarterly goals
  • Manage assigned resources to meet customer needs and production demands
  • Monitor costs and expenses quarterly against annual plan
  • Maintain and improve relationships with existing internal stakeholders

Requirements:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary degree/certificate in marketing, advertising, and/or communications preferred but not required
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing and advertising, either in an agency setting or in-house team
  • Agency experience with entertainment or arts clients or working in the entertainment or arts sector is considered an asset
  • Experience with the following marketing and promotional tactics:
  • Print and out-of-home advertising
  • Multicultural marketing
  • Digital and paid social advertising
  • Partnership/grassroots outreach

Skills:

  • A proven track record of managing direct reports; working with creative, artistic and business teams; developing insights as well as being accountable for managing internal resources, timelines and strategic deliverables is critical
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills
  • Fluency in French or other languages a great asset
  • Ability to work and inspire others to craft simple, clear and inspirational campaign ideas, and marketing plans
  • Experience working on brand and advertising marketing programs and campaigns.
  • Ability to lead briefs and campaigns from inception to completion.
  • Experience managing budgets and tracking spends across multiple platforms
  • A proven track record of working with creative teams, developing insights as well as being accountable for managing internal resources, timelines and strategic deliverables is critical
  • Ability to package information in clear, concise and impactful ways
  • Excellent capacity to refine information in order to reveal an insight and the ability to summarize complex information to make it accessible. Quantitative and qualitative research knowledge.
  • Proficiency in systems such as Office Suite, Google Docs, and Trello are an asset
  • Hands-on experience and/or knowledge of Google Analytics, Google AdWords, Comscore, Nielsen Vivadata and Social advertising platforms

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • 9 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with more intensive schedule during Festival
  • Overtime during busy periods generally related to Festival

Company:

Expected salary: $65000 – 70000 per year
