Position Overview:
Reporting to the Director, Mental Health and Addictions, the Manager, In-Patient Mental Health, provides leadership within the Mental Health program, facilitating the delivery of quality, patient focused care and the provision of a safe working environment for nurses, physicians and the interdisciplinary team. The Manager is accountable and responsible for the efficient and effective management and utilization of approved financial, human, capital and material resources. In this position the manager will cover the inpatient unit, PICU, with the opportunity to lead projects and specialty clinics. The Manager will support the planning and achievement of departmental goals and objectives aligned with SHN′s strategic priorities.
As a leader with integrity, you will be responsible to build and promote trust within the Mental Health program, including engaging employees and sustaining positive relationships in a unionized environment. The Manager is an important resource and advocate for Patient Safety, Risk Management and Quality Improvement ensuring compliance with Accreditation and SHN standards. As a leader at SHN, you will be working within a Health Leadership Capabilities Framework, it is essential that you are able to lead yourself, engage others, achieve results, develop coalitions, and conduct systems transformation in order to create a strong healthcare system.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree and current, valid designation as a regulated health care professional
- Minimum 5-7 years clinical experience working in a Mental Health and Addictions related field with demonstrated clinical and leadership skills
- Previous supervisory or management experience required
- Current registration with College of Nurses of Ontario, or other college / regulatory body as per the R.H.P.A
- Demonstrated commitment to participatory management, research-based practice and patient/family collaborative education programs is required
- Demonstrated ability to develop standards, protocols, policies and procedures
- Demonstrated integrity, ability to take initiative and a commitment to continuing professional development
- Demonstrated excellent strong communication skills – both written and verbal
- Working experience with the EPIC computer information system preferred
- Demonstrated superior interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with a wide range of individuals tactfully and diplomatically
- Proven mediation, conflict resolution and negotiation skills, with the ability to negotiate diplomatically with members of the multi-disciplinary team, patients/clients and the community
- Proven skills in facilitating, mentoring and delivering presentations
- Demonstrated strategic leadership, team building and conflict resolution skills
- Proven solid planning and organizational abilities
- Proven effective and well-substantiated problem-solving, negotiating, planning and decision-making ability
- Demonstrates values consistent with SHN′s Code of Conduct and is committed to
fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety
policy and legislation.
- Utilizes protective equipment provided and identifies and reports hazards
- Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our

Asset:
- Ability to speak another language
- Masters′ degree in Nursing or another related clinical / health professional field
