What you’ll do
It’s safe to say, there’s no shortage of variety in what we do. Here are some key responsibilities of the role:
Technology and Analytics Portfolio
Develops long term strategy for LP technology and business intelligence portfolios; leads overall development, delivery and monitoring operational and technology initiatives including overseeing project plans, identifying actionable deliverables and resources to meet business objectives * Responsible for driving LP technology strategy with cross functional teams; arranges resources to allocate on projects in close partnership with LP leadership; partners with LP Managers to engage in and supporting LP improvement initiatives
- Accountable for coordinating funding, budgeting, financial analysis, expense control monitoring, contract administration and system development
- Assesses, monitors long-term sustainable use of systems after implementation, (e.g. knowledge base, documentation and foundational data maintenance); develops and recommends improvements as needed
- Review and evaluates department standards, policies and procedures; recommends updates/re-design of processes to improve efficiencies and effectiveness of programs
- Directs teams to ensure automations and analytics solutions are delivered and maintained to meet business needs; acting as a path for escalation of issues
- Key contact and subject matter expert for TJX Canada LP to inform global LP activities, processes and related metrics
- Accountable for providing the LP leadership team with technology project updates; identifies and assesses risks and recommendations to address risks
- Collaborates with TJX Canada departments and Senior Leadership where there is impact to operational efficiencies, providing subject matter expertise to projects and discussions
Collaboration/Relationships:
- Collaborates with business partners (IT, L&D, Field, etc.) to identify and create programs to meet the specific needs; facilitates and leads cross-departmental/regional teams in collaboration to successfully design and implement medium and large scale project initiatives
- Partner with GCI team to plan and coordinate process improvements across LP
- Advocates for TJX Canada projects for global prioritization and consults on changes to IT roadmaps; collaborates with IT PM, IT SMEs, GCI, Management, and influences local and global LP leadership teams to plan and for various program level activities
- Collaborates with cross-functional peers to inform on strategy, negotiate resources, and align strategies to support mutual objectives
- Participates on cross-departmental team to ensure LP needs are considered on company-wide projects; works cross-functionally with LP management teams (National Investigations, LP Shared Services etc.)
- Collaborates with internal partners and stakeholders (TJX Canada, Global) and external partners to establish ways of working/ best practices and champion locally
Leadership
- Leads a team responsible for liaising with multiple technical teams in IT, LP global partners and leaders in LP and functional leaders across Canada in the successful delivery of sustainable systems changes through project leadership, change management, and process innovation
- Accountable for setting department talent strategy, spanning 12 to 15 months to ensure pipeline of functional capability, with diversified talent pool to fill key positions that support current and future needs of department; participate on talent development discussions and talent review calibrations, sets and tracks department and team objectives
- Mentors leaders of others and self-leaders on relationship management and business acumen and provides technical leadership to answer key questions and discuss best practices
- Develops and coaches team, by providing consistent feedback and timely performance management; ensures Associates have development plans that supports their growth and development plan
- Responsible for supporting and driving change management efforts in line with the vision and objectives of LP, focused on the impacts of technology and related centralization & globalization of LP
- Leads and champions change management related to LP systems changes, ensuring the appropriate engagement of Organizational Development, Training and Change Management teams
- Provides senior-level counsel to leaders and acts as the subject matter expert in LP improvements methodology and practices
- Provides leadership and participates on annual and special projects / committees as needed
What you’ll need
To begin your career with us, you’ll have:
- Minimum high school education, post-secondary education in related field preferred
- Five (5) to (7) seven years progressive management experience in Retail, preferably off-price, with experience in operations and loss prevention is preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including interviewing, negotiating, listening, conflict management, information gathering and coaching ; with ability to influence business partners to help prioritize activities and resources to meet the organization needs, build rapport and credibility to be a trusted advisor; bilingualism (English/French) an asset
- Strong investigative methodologies and experience with analytical and critical thinking skills to provide solutions; ability to leverage prior experience and adapt quickly to the changing work environment to make effective decisions; demonstrated flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing needs of the business, and changing priorities
- Knowledge of the global and national retail landscape and market trends to develop future strategies; solid understanding of business tools and reports to make business recommendations
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to act as a collaborative partner with senior management and positively influence management and staff to act in the best interest of the Company
- Demonstrates management skills including organizational, negotiating, listening, conflict management and information gathering skills. Demonstrated solid people management skills including coaching, providing advice and guidance to Associates in the resolution of problems
- Strong problem solving skills including analysis of information (i.e. requirements; description of problems); provide solutions with cost implications to effectively resolve issues and execute strategic solutions
- Solid project management skills including structured project methodology (i.e. determining needs, researching existing programs, etc.); preparing and maintaining detailed development plans for projects; determining project specifications; understanding and applying principles of project control to launch and manage new initiatives and innovations.
- Strong technical aptitude and willingness to master the use of relevant technologies; computer skills including MS Office applications – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
