Job description: About the Role

The Manager role will be responsible for implementation of Advisor focused software solutions. This hands-on development role will involve managing a development team, working in close collaboration with the Product Management and other stakeholders to ensure timely and high-quality delivery. The role involves collaborating with multiple teams across global locations and working across time zones. The candidate will have strong architectural skills and would be experienced with agile methodologies, who comes from hands on development background and has played a lead or manager role in previous assignments.

This position is based out of our Toronto office.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage delivery for a Full stack software engineering team
  • Create and oversee project timelines, tasks/responsibilities, and deliverables
  • Collaborate with groups throughout Morningstar to proactively identify and manage dependencies
  • Setup right development standards and practices. Also provide hands on solutions to issues and problems faced.
  • Take ownership of the various areas of the software/product delivery
  • Stay up to date on emerging technologies and be a mentor to the team members

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 9+ years’ experience with a software development experience which should include 3+ years of architecture/technical leadership is a must
  • Experience in JavaScript frameworks like Angular or VueJS or ReactJS.
  • Strong hands-on development experience using C# and SQL databases.
  • Java, Python and NoSQL databases are pluses
  • Solid understanding and experience with AWS
  • Expert in software development processes and methodologies including Agile and Scrum
  • Experience with capacity planning, performance optimizations and overall system architecture
  • General understanding of protecting web applications from common security vulnerabilities
  • Strong communication and articulation skills
  • Proven team management skills, including mentoring and developing team members
  • Experience setting up monitoring of apps in production using various tools like New Relic, VictorOps etc.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
