On behalf of our financial services client, Brainhunter Systems is seeking to fulfill a permanent full-time role for a Managing Director, Technology Assurance, Data Science & Analytics. This person will be accountable for leading the development and execution of Technology Assurance activities and leading how we leverage Data, Analytics and technology to advance and scale IA to keep pace with our client and advancements in the industry. The position directly influences the successful achievement of the department’s mandate, engagements and investigations that provide assurance, guidance and valuable risk management insights to their lines of business and strategic support units.
Working with other leaders and senior team members, this role will coordinate and deliver departmental initiatives, work plans, and reporting, keeping the Vice-President apprised of the status and output of each. The role will be responsible for establishing and delivering on the data science, analytics and technology strategy for Internal Assurance (IA). This role will lead the training and infusion of data analytics and science capabilities within IA. The role will also lead the exploration of the use of machine learning, artificial intelligence and robotics in this department, and will lead activities to plan and implement tools to support the IA data analytics strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise Enterprise wide business partners on risk, governance and business management issues and opportunities to strengthen risk awareness and mitigation responses, strengthen partnerships across the 3 lines of defense and support organizational agility.
- Managing the advancement of IA practices by leading performance and professional growth of leaders in the Data Science, Analytics and Technology teams.
- Identify, prioritize and advance towards future leading practices in IA leveraging Data, Analytics and Technology (including automation).
- Setting the direction for reporting requirements and providing context to current operations and future impacts.
- Establishing a level of capabilities maturity and Scale the ROI in IA leveraging the integration of Data, technology and analytics.
- Enabling team skills and knowledge development.

This leader will need to demonstrate how their education and skills provide a breadth and depth of technology knowledge including a view to emerging practices, current and legacy technology and how those enable strategic goals and objectives with the following education requirements or equivalency:
Accreditation:
- Professional risk (CFE, CPA, CIA, CISA) and/or cyber security certification (CISSP, CAP, CHFI) or equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree with a major in one of the following areas preferred: Accounting, Business, Finance, Engineering, MIS or equivalent.
- 10 years Technology Experience or Audit/Risk in a Technology role.
- 5 years in a leadership role. Knowledge and a variety of past experiences utilizing different types of programming languages and expertise to lead the appropriate application based upon the benefits and drawbacks of each.
- Training and experience working with cloud computing, data warehousing and ‘big data’ platforms. AWS/Google Professional Cloud Architect would be an asset.
- Successful candidates must demonstrate training and experience in executive leadership, business, change and performance management.
- Knowledge of analytical approaches (ex. visual analytics, statistical analysis, predictive modeling,)
- Knowledge of analytical tools such as Tableau, QlikView, SAP, SAS, ACL, Alteryx, IDEA, data mining commonly used in banking industry,
- Familiarity with cloud computing and ‘big data’ platforms, programming languages – R and/or Python is a plus
- Knowledge of SQL, relational databases, structured and unstructured data

- The ability to think strategically and to understand organizational implications and risks is also a key success factor in this role.
