Job title: Marketing & Communications Manager

Job description: Working directly with new ByTowne ownership, the Marketing & Communications Manager will be responsible for developing and deploying strategies for this landmark independent cinema. With a particular focus on The Bytowne, there will also be opportunities to work with, and provide guidance to the teams at Fox Theatre (Toronto) & Apollo Cinema (Kitchener). The diverse films & events that these three cinemas program create many opportunities for exciting and dynamic campaign strategies. The community focus of each cinema also makes the position ideal for those who will enjoy fostering partnerships with other local businesses, individuals & arts organizations.

The interested individual should have a firm understanding of brand management, advertising, publicity, marketing through e-communications, social media, and a love of film! Experience with graphic design preferred.

Key Responsibilities

The Marketing Manager will oversee a variety of duties in implementing the marketing initiatives to drive growth and enhance market positioning including, but not limited to:

Strategic Development:

  • Deliver strategic marketing plans aligned with the ByTowne operations plan, programmed content and priorities
  • Maintain and evolve the brand identity of The ByTowne through brand guidelines and press pack, as well as design and marketing initiatives
  • Strategize with General Manager & Ownership to develop pricing plans, selling tactics, targeted promotions, and outreach efforts to ensure achievement of sales goals

Budget & Campaign Management:

  • Execute go-to market campaigns for ByTowne, Fox Theatre and Apollo Cinema that support revenue opportunity generation and brand visibility
  • Track, monitor and report ROI on all marketing activities/campaigns
  • Design or, as required, oversee the design of printed and digital promotional materials for ByTowne, Fox Theatre & Apollo Cinema including advertisements, brochures, posters, and press releases
  • Create, or manage creation of, bespoke video trailers for upcoming programs
  • Oversight of digital newsletters including to audience, membership base, business partners, and community members.
  • Work with General Manager and Ownership to manage and in some cases execute campaigns for ByTowne, Fox Theatre and Apollo Cinema
  • Conduct community outreach and form appropriate partnerships
  • Assist on the execution of events, grassroots marketing efforts, promotions, and partnerships as required
  • Write press releases and manage publicity as required
  • Updating databases regularly, including social media lists, community partners, vendors, stakeholders, media and membership
  • Update free listings websites
  • Coordinate and plan regular in-house marketing activities with Ownership/General Manager (trailers, signage, preshow)

Stakeholder & Community Relations:

  • Develops relationships with community organizations, festivals, external booking agents/presenters/promoters, local artists, event planners and others, to seek ways to engage the community and bring business to the ByTowne venue
  • Liaise with marketing counterparts from other associations, sponsors and partners to identify areas of collaboration,cross-promote and coordinate exchange of materials.
  • Day-to-day research for specific events, as well as industry research for marketing and promotions purposes
  • Development and oversight of quarterly audience surveys
  • Actively participate in industry meetings and share technical insight and business knowledge

Requirements:

  • 3+ years marketing experience
  • Paid Facebook and Google campaign management
  • Graphic design
  • Video editing (preferred)
  • French speaking (preferred)
  • Paid Facebook and Google experience
  • Strong copy-writing and editing
  • Ability to report on analytics
  • Love of film

Company:

Expected salary: $50000 – 55000 per year
