Standard Work Hours:

Mon – Fri | 8:15 am – 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week

Salary Range:

$46,244.00 – $60,114.00 per annum

YOUR FOCUS:

The Marketing Communications Strategist will report to the Executive Director of the McKenna Institute. They will develop and implement communication strategies and plans to advance the work of the McKenna Institute. They will organize and promote a variety of events and will to create content and materials to market and promote the work of the McKenna Institute to various stakeholders. They will be a creative, collaborative team player with skills and expertise in marketing, communications, digital strategy, and project management.

Success in this role is defined by building and engaging our community locally, nationally, and beyond across all channels to raise awareness and reputation of the McKenna Institute and the University of New Brunswick.

  • Manage and oversee the development, implementation, optimization, and reporting of McKenna marketing and communications strategy and plans that positively positions the Institute.
  • Collaborate to plan, organize, promote, and oversee communication strategies for events, including conferences, speakers series, media events, etc.
  • Craft written materials including, but not limited to compelling stories, news releases, media advisories, speeches, talking points, presentations, and various materials relating to McKenna Institute and its partners.
  • Manage marketing collateral tasks including, but not limited to presentations, brochures, and event materials.
  • Conduct competitive reviews.
  • Act as the Institute’s primary point of contact for marketing and communications activities.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Strategic Communications & Marketing Office at UNB.
  • Oversee the McKenna Institute’s digital presence by managing and creating compelling content for the website and creating and managing a social media presence.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in business with a concentration in marketing, communications, public relations, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • 5-7 years’ professional experience in a communications, public relations or media relations role developing, implementing, and measuring marketing strategies and/or campaigns.

  • Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners/clients; work within a team-environment.
  • Excellent judgment, decision-making and organizational skills required, particularly in written and verbal communication.
