You will use your expertise to:
- Support the planning, development and execution of on-site field test programs at our Fort McMurray operation with other Research staff. Equipment includes heavy hauler trucks, shovels, crushers, conveyors, gravity separation units, centrifuges and slurry pumps and pipelines.
- Perform model development in support of reliability improvements to mechanical equipment or new extraction process equipment, including one or more of: 3D CAD modeling, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Finite Element Analysis, Numerical modeling in Matlab and Excel
- Travel to the Syncrude operation in Fort McMurray to conduct field checks on the process and equipment that is being analyzed (optional / discretionary)
- Literature review of current and past research activities and advancement in oil sands operation
- Data collection, analysis, report writing and presentation of results from our research activities
- Support a collaborative, innovative and team based environment through good ideas and active participation

Must-haves (minimum requirements):
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering, majoring in Mechanical, or other relevant undergraduate degree and returning to full-time studies after the work term
- Strong computer skills in Matlab, Excel, Word and Powerpoint

Preference for:
- Interest in working in a Research and Development environment

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:
Edmonton:
- You will work out of the Research and Development office, located at 9421-17 Ave NW
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
- Available for an 8 or 12 month term starting May 2022
