This role is responsible for the tactical planning, execution and reconciliation of Medical Education and Training meetings in the orthopaedic segment. Based on corporate goals and objectives, supports the design, development and implementation of medical training and educational programs to educate surgeons and sales representatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Professional Education Manager in the development of the annual operating plan for business segments based on strategic plan
  • Plans and executes Medical Education programs including didactic/sawbones programs, Surgeon to Surgeon training, industry side events, surgeon booth demonstrations, and Practice Workshops
  • Develops and evaluates innovative education and communication technologies relevant to the business segment goals
  • Development of meeting goals & objectives, assist in strategic planning for program development, Corporate Brand Management, preparation of budgets (preliminary, working, and final meeting budgets), contract negotiations with vendors
  • Management of Food & Beverage (F&B), Time & Events schedules (T&E), Arrival & Departures manifests (A&D manifests), Banquet & Event Orders (BEOs), housing lists and delegate communications
  • Effectively interface with a diverse group of internal and external personnel to include Senior Management, Compliance, Distributors, Sales Associates, Healthcare Professionals, and vendors

Expected Areas of Competence

  • Strong meeting industry experience
  • Knowledge of orthopedic industry or related field, marketing, and medical education an asset
  • Strong project and time management skills; well organized and detail oriented with ability to work in fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects.
  • Proactive problem solver capable of critical situation analysis
  • Sees the potential for novel relationships with key customers and is forward thinking
  • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology an asset
  • Working knowledge – finance and budgeting skills
  • Working knowledge of Health Care Compliance policy
  • Strong ability to influence without authority
  • Highly self-motivated and manages change appropriately
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) with experience in a consulting and relationship management role
  • Excellent computer skills using Word, Power Point and Excel software
  • Physically able to lift 40 pounds and stand for extended periods of time

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing Management or Science
  • 3+ years of experience required
  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), Certified Meeting Manager (CMM) or other equivalent certification an asset

Travel Requirements

Ability to travel up to 40% of the time and frequently on short notice
