Reporting to the Senior Medical Director, Maternal Newborn Program, this position assumes medical leadership for the High Risk Obstetrics Program at BC Women’s Hospital. This includes the Urgent Care Centre, the High Risk Labour + Delivery Unit, and the High Acuity Unit. You will apply current research evidence and best practice standards to provide program guidance and development. This role requires an innovator to assume accountability for quality of care in accordance with established policies and philosophies. This role also includes leadership and interactions at a regional and provincial level as well as opportunities for research and education initiatives.

You are committed to your clinical practice and strive to provide the highest level of care possible to women. A strong communicator and facilitator, you have an enthusiasm for teaching and research. You lead by example by providing support and developing strong working relationships through interprofessional collaboration.

In this role, you will apply your knowledge and experience to monitor all operations and lead continuous quality improvement for your clinical service area while remaining a practicing physician. You will participate in collaborative development of clinical practice standards.

You are someone who wants to make a difference and who has the ability to influence the development of long term directions, priorities and strategic options.

Along with specialty training in Obstetrics & Gynecology, you are registered with, or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Leadership and/or administrative experience would be highly beneficial. The ideal candidate will have or be eligible for a faculty appointment at the University of British Columbia.
