Anatomical Pathology, Richmond Hospital, LM Labs, $24.20 per hour

What you’ll do

  • Perform medical transcription through methods such as transcribing clinical reports including pathology reports, reviews and surgical reports for inclusion in patient records, forwarding reports to author for review and signature and distributing reports.
  • Type and transcribe a variety of documents including general correspondence, papers, reports, lectures, applications, articles, and form memos. Maintains files, patient information databases, and other patient data.
  • Answer the telephone and takes messages as required; requests additional laboratory investigation on specimens or slides, according to instructions from the Pathologists.
  • Perform reception duties such as receiving and directing patients and visitors to the appropriate area, answering telephone calls, intercom, and/or telephone pagers, responding to general queries, directing calls to appropriate area as required, and taking and relaying messages.
  • Photocopies reports, and files reviews, slides and related material.

What you bring

  • Grade 12 graduation.
  • Graduation from a recognized program in medical transcription.
  • One (1) year’s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

You will have the ability to:

  • Keyboard 60 wpm.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Deal with others effectively.
  • Physically carry out the duties of the position.
  • Operate related equipment.
  • Organize work.
