Key Qualifications Key Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience supporting distributed database infrastructure on on-premise servers or in AWS cloud.
  • In-depth experience on any of NoSQL data store such as Voldemort, Cassandra, MongoDB, or Redis
  • Proficiency in developing solutions to observe, monitor and diagnose NoSQL database and its infrastructure
  • Proficiency with Shell scripting, Python or similar languages
  • Ability to understand working of software written in Java
  • Tune database performance, including tuning OS (Linux/Unix) and JVM
  • Experience deploying stateful services on Kubernetes will be a plus
  • Exposure to devops tools, processes and culture
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results on time with high quality
  • Ability to independently learn new technologies
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across multiple business and technical teams
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Description Description

We are looking for a broad thinking, self-directed distributed database enthusiast, who is passionate about database availability, is willing to dig into database source code to look at ways to optimize performance and availability, is keen to learn and improve. You will get to build and manage one of the largest NoSQL infrastructure that serve users of Apple Services around the world. Responsibilities: – Build and manage Apple’s critical distributed database systems – Develop, debug and review Java source code – Optimize system (Linux servers / AWS EC2) to boost database performance and availability – Design and build highly available Database infrastructure, and perform configuration, upgrades, monitoring and troubleshooting. – Build automation tools and software for operational visibility into database infrastructure using Java/Python/Shell scripts – Share on-call rotation with the existing team members
