Job description: Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager Benefits, the incumbent is responsible for the effective delivery of HR services in the areas of pension and benefits. The incumbent will perform and/or organize activities in support of the daily operations of the Pension and Benefits unit, ensuring that administrative services are carried out in accordance with established goals and objectives. Responsible for communication of pension and benefits-related information to McGill community as well as to service providers. Monitor compliance with policies and procedures, and responsible for a variety of administrative processes related to pension and benefits. Perform related duties.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare various reports weekly, monthly and annually, using Excel and Workday.
  • Work closely with the Functional Business Analyst and payroll staff with respect to pension and benefits data, resolution of issues and preparation of reports.
  • Prepare reports in order to process wire transfers and provide information to insurance carriers and pension providers.
  • Process payments for monthly invoices.
  • Perform the reconciliation of pensions and benefits accounts.
  • Communicate with members with regards to various pension and benefits-related questions.
  • Prepare letters and documentation destined to members.
  • Provide explanation to human resources representative and managers.
  • Liaise with external service providers on issues pertaining to pension and benefits.
  • Participate in the review and documentation of policies and procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Maintain or update the relevant sections of the website.
  • Preparation and dissemination of documentation to members of the Pension Plan and Staff Benefits Advisory Committees.
  • Contributes to the preparation of Power Point presentations.
  • Responsible for a variety of administrative processes including file records management, logistical planning, support for meetings and events.
  • Support the members of the team with other administrative tasks.

Minimum Education & Experience:

DEC III

Three (3) years’ related experience

Other Qualifying Skills and/Or Abilities:

Bachelor in Human Resources, Mathematics, Finance or Accounting preferred. Previous experience in pension and group benefits administration is a definite asset. Strong analytic, attention to detail and mathematical aptitude. Excellent organization and time management practices. Strong problem solving skills, quick learner and ability to work within a team environment. Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to provide a wide range of information and advice to internal and external clients. Proven professionalism and discretion at all times. Excellent computer skills, including MS office applications with strong skills in MS Excel. Knowledge of Workday an asset. Written and spoken French and English.

Annual Salary:

(MPEX Grade 03) $51,190.00 – $63,980.00 – $76,770.00
