As a Pipeline Developer you will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing new tools that enable our artists, creative leads and supervisors to complete their projects. Pipeline TDs provide critical technical support and assist in troubleshooting and debugging of production issues and enhancing the pipeline.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a high degree of quality, attention to detail, and level of communication while designing and implementing solutions within the existing pipeline.
- Troubleshoot creative and technical issues.
- Work closely with artists and production team to uncover their needs and develop effective tools to meet the complex requirements of the projects.
- Provide solutions to improve workflow efficiency and alleviate bottleneck
- Review and quality control throughout the technical process
- Improve and streamline technologies and tools for the production pipeline and workflow
- Remain abreast of new and emerging technologies and attempt to implement them effectively.
Technical Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in feature animation or VFX production pipeline technology.
- Degree in Computer Science or similar education.
- Proficiency in Python and UI development using PySide/PyQt.
- Experience with writing Shotgun Python API scripts, as well as managing Shotgun site configurations and Shotgun projects using the Shotgun web UI.
- Excellent knowledge of one or more of the following software: Maya, Houdini, Nuke, Red shift, Arnold, Mari.
- Proficiency with one or more vendor Scripting APIs: MEL / Maya Python, VEX/ Houdini python, Nuke, etc.
- Experience with workflows based on Pixar’s USD scene description language •familiarity with GIT / SVN and collaborative workflows.
Other Requirements
- Proven ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Strong understanding of large-scale production pipelines and artist workflows within film and television visual effects.
- Ability and interest in learning new skills autonomously highly desired.
- Capacity to thrive in a results-driven pipeline.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and problem solve.
- Eligible to work in Canada.
