Position Overview: Reporting to the Manager, Manufacturing Engineering, this position is accountable for leading Capital and Tooling projects in support of OEM’s production relating to safety, quality, and efficiency.

Job Description:

  • Initiate, plan, execute, control and close Capital and Tooling projects to meet objectives. Projects may include relocation, removal or modification of existing production equipment; specing, sourcing, and coordinating the procurement, installation and commissioning of new production equipment.
  • Create schedules to support project implementations.
  • Facilitate project meetings.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers/contractors/engineering firms relating to project investigation/implementation activities.
  • Prepare presentations, executive summaries, project updates and present findings to stakeholders and management.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews on the effectiveness & sustainability of projects.
  • Prepare final close-out reports for projects.
  • Review & report on approved budgeted costs versus spent funds relating to projects.

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Engineering or a technically equivalent degree/diploma with a minimum of 2 years work experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Proven writing, research and formatting skills, particularly in a technical industry.
  • Business and/or Project Management experience is a plus.
  • Experience with CAD software; SolidWorks and AutoCAD LT experience are a plus.
  • Formal training or experience with Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
  • Experience with plant / process layout is a plus.
  • Exposure to manufacturing plant, machine shop and warehouse environments are a plus.
  • Experience with coordination of commercial contractors is a plus.
  • Experience with Heavy Duty machinery, CAT equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to interact with various levels within the organization, conduct interviews with subject matter experts and analyze information to understand project scope, objectives and deliverables.
  • Ability to interpret information and make data driven decisions using technical and business operations knowledge.
  • Exceptional analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
