Job Description
Under the general direction of the Business technology Manager, the IT Project Manager has responsibilities for leading major IT projects, starting with HRIS/Payroll systems and followed by other ERP related projects. Reviews business requirements and generates project specifications for the software providers ensuring they are in accordance with best practices. Effectively manages project timelines, resources, deliverables, and risks. Works closely with Department Heads and users to define all system needs.
THE ROLE
1. Project Development
- Manages the development and implementation of new applications.
- Reviews business requirements on an ongoing basis.
- Generate various project documents: Charter, Scope, Project Plan, Project Status.
- Facilitates the project and development review meetings and prepares the user training material for the new applications.
- Delegates responsibilities to project team members and performs follow-ups to ensure quality standards and timelines are respected.
2. Implementation
- Follows up on action items resulting from the various discussions with users, vendors and team members.
- Manages the timeline and mitigates all issues and risks related to the project.
- Ensures that the necessary infrastructure for testing is created; generates and validates the user testing scripts.
- Ensures end-users buy in and sign off on all development issues.
- Facilitates and performs training on the new applications as they are rolled out.
- Generates the required documentation according to the IT Methodology.
THE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 5-10 years experience leading multiple projects in a fast-paced business environment. HRIS experience is an asset.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is required.
- PMP or CAPM Certification is an asset.
- Working knowledge of the standard Systems Development Life Cycle
- Experience implementing Retail merchandising and financial systems including Aptos Retail, Great Plains, HRIS, WMS, PLM or equivalent is preferred.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Business Applications (MS Project, MS Office), Confluence & Jira
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
- Detail oriented and able to create user documentation
- Bilingualism
