Position Title: Regional Finance Manager, Commercial

Team and Location: Edmonton, AB

Position Summary:

The Finance Manager plays a key leadership role in the Prairies Regional Operations Centre (ROC) by leading key operational and financial initiatives which include, business analytics, operational reporting and forecasting, customer profitability, revenue management, inventory management, asset administration, continuous improvement and cost optimization functions within the regional operations center.

Key Responsibilities:

Working with General Manager, finance, and other key leaders in the region to drive safety, growth, profitability, quality, reliability, and financial position.

  • Build and utilizes financial and operational analysis to drive improvement in financial results and supports operational decision making.
  • Root cause analysis and uncovering core issues using data, then assisting the General Manager to improve processes in the region.
  • Expertise in collecting, analyzing, and managing information and creating meaningful reports to lead business improvement, then working with team members to implement action items.
  • Responsible for creating operational budgets, variance analysis, and forecasts for the submission to corporate finance.
  • Manage ROC business support teams.
  • Proactively evaluate customer profitability, demand planning, growth capital, and complete look-back.
  • Responsible for ensuring regional assets are tracked, verified, and are productive in generating revenue.
  • Update KPI on a daily, weekly, monthly basis.
  • Support Regional sales and operations managers with continuous improvement activities, including updating and operating huddle boards for key continuous improvement activities in operational territories and regional center.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Finance, Accounting, or Industrial Engineering; Master’s Degree with a Major in Finance or Accounting.
  • Accounting designation strongly desired.
  • 3-5 years of experience in supervisory or management role.
  • Minimum 5 years of financial analytics and lean management.
  • Willingness to travel to various sites within the region and periodically to national meetings.
  • Proficiency with interpreting data to identify past and future trends to communicate opportunities to improve the profitability or balance sheet of the region.
  • Ability to set priorities, and meet timelines leading to attainment of goals. Excellent project-management skills, including forecasting skills and project planning is needed.
  • Ability to operate effectively across various departments and management levels to resolve issues and achieve targets.
  • Ability to form persuasive fact-based cases to support views and recommendations. Highly analytical and detail orientated.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player, able to work collaboratively to achieve results.
