Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse practices within the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN), NSCN Standards of Nursing Practice for Registered Nurses and the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics, is responsible and accountable for the nursing care of an assigned group of patients and their families; provides guidance and leadership to peers and other staff; works in a collaborative relationship with colleagues, unit staff, students and members of related health disciplines. The successful applicant may be reassigned within Perioperative Services in Eastern Zone based on operational requirements.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved School of Nursing
  • Registered with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN)
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), or willingness to complete within two years.
  • Clinical experience in an operating room setting with extensive surgical procedures:

o Either one (1) year within the last five (5) or two (2) years continuous service within the last ten (10) years
o If not available, completion of Perioperative Nursing Program or enrolled in with completion in 2021

  • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and ability to maintain good relationships with team members, particularly the willingness and ability to learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Evidence of ongoing relevant education
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform duties of the position.
  • Good attendance and work record
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

ACLS is required as the Nurse will circulate through Day Surgery and Recovery Room

Hours of Work

Permanent, Part-Time position; 60 hours biweekly

Salary Information

$35.2108 – $41. 4848 hourly
$42.9366 with 25 years’ of experience
