The Registered Practical Nurse provides a leadership role within the client care team and provides care in situations in which the client’s condition is stable and the client care outcomes are predictable. Within the scope of practice the Registered Practical Nurse promotes health, assesses and provides care and treatment by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means to attain or maintain optimal function for the client.

Required Skills:

  • Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with current registration
  • Current BCLS certification

Academic Preferred:

  • Post diploma preparation in physical assessment for R.P.N.’s

Departmental Education and Skills Requirements:

  • Glucometer
  • I.V. monitoring
  • Asepsis
  • Wound irrigation and fluid measurement
  • Tracheostomy care
  • Catheterization – male and female
  • Medication administration
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history

Experience Preferred:

  • Previous experience in an acute care setting
  • Demonstrated ability to assess patient care needs

Assets:

  • Fluency in both English & French

Hours of Work: Part Time Permanent scheduled up to 24 hours a week. Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the SEIU collective agreement.

Salary: $30.57 – $31.17 an hour
