Wastenot Farms is a regenerative agriculture company collecting food waste, recycling this material through worm composting, and retailing Jocelyn’s Soil Booster all- natural, non-toxic soil amendments.

We are looking for someone to develop and execute our spring 2022 digital sales and marketing strategy, with a focus on science education, and help guide our marketing efforts as we enter into the next phase of company growth and develop new markets for our products. The right individual will be excited about joining a small, innovative team and helping us to grow our operations into a vibrant sustainable initiative by driving engagement and sales. The key area of expertise we are looking for is in digital communications and marketing however the right person will be keen to wear many hats in our small start-up. Every day is different at Wastenot Farms however we foster a caring and dedicated team atmosphere through paid yoga classes and weekly team lunches.

This is a full-time contract position, 35hr/wk, for 10 months paying $18/hr.

This will be a hybrid position where the employee will work at on-site at our farm in Mono, Ontario (just outside of Orangeville) at least three days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop digital media strategy that establishes best-practices for: website, marketing automation and digital media performance across multiple channels; social media, remarketing, google AdWords
  • Lead website planning and execution, setting key benchmarks to meet objectives
  • Consider, implement and report on Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing techniques for all web pages
  • Support data-informed decision making across all platforms using analytical tools to track, monitor and optimize digital performance
  • Manage our social media platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram)
  • Manage biweekly newsletters, collaborating with the rest of the team to identify key content and outreach goals
  • Aid with additional activities along the sales funnel including outreach, customer service, and fulfillment

Business Development

  • Support market segmentation and explore new avenues for marketing
  • Manage media relations, PR coordination, sponsorships, and events, as required

Lead Generation & Outreach

  • Deploy successful marketing campaigns and own their implementation from idea to execution

Brand & Buzz

  • Develop the Jocelyn’s Soil Booster brand including strategies and tactics to build brand equity in the industry
  • Produce on-brand content for our website, social media, and other channels
  • Oversee the work of external vendors or contractors (e.g. graphic designers, printers, web developers, etc.) and ensure deliverables are kept within scope, on time, and on budget

Program Tracking, Analytics & Reporting

  • Create, measure and report performance of marketing campaigns; gain insight and assess against goals

You have the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in marketing
  • Experience creating and developing digital marketing best practices within an organization
  • Knowledge of digital landscape including; current industry and user trends, emerging technologies and standards, information architecture and interactive design.
  • Proven competency with digital platforms that enable marketing automation like Mailchimp
  • Campaign experience running Paid Search mediums, remarketing, display advertising
  • Demonstrable experience with email marketing, lead generation, and SEO
  • Solid understanding of Google analytics, ability to generate, analyze and interpret data
  • Proven ability to understand the audience and tailor communications appropriately
  • Working knowledge of CMS, HTML
  • 1 year experience in a marketing or sales roles
  • Familiarity with the health and wellness market an asset
  • Familiarity with the gardening/horticulture industry an asset
  • Access to a vehicle to work on-site in Mono, ON at least 3 days per week
