To provide secretarial, administrative and clerical support to the Shared Hospital Laboratory.
Responsibilities:
- Type correspondence (letters, memos, reports) from Medical Director, Technical Director, Opeartions Manager, Microbiology Consultant
- Attend and take minutes at meetings
- Type minutes and send agenda packages to the members of the Board, Priorities and Planning, Clinical Advisory, Lab Management and other committees as required
- Communicate to Committee members of change in meeting schedules or other administrative matters
- Type prepared reports, tables and graphs on laboratory statistics
- Check inventory levels and prepare ordering sheets
- Process orders for Lab and office supplies
- Reconcile invoices with orders
- Payroll entry
- Type policies and procedures
- Open, stamp and distribute mail
- Organize and maintain a shared lab filing system
- Fax, photocopy, file or distribute written materials
- Other duties as required
Requirements:
- Community College diploma as a Secretary
- Typing skills of 60 wpm
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Knowledge of computer software i.e., Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Pleasant customer / client attitude
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Demonstrated good organizational skills, ability to organize work and set priorities
- Ability work independently or as a team member in a fast paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written
- Demonstrates values consistent with SHL’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
- Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
