Responsibilities

Due to continued rapid growth and expansion of the Water and Wastewater Treatment business group in Eastern Canada, we are seeking a Senior Engineer and Team Lead – Process Engineering to join our team in Montréal, Ottawa or Fredericton.

As Team Lead, the selected candidate will be accountable for managing client expectations, executing projects with a high level of efficiency, mentoring staff and supporting the performance and growth of the Business Group. This important role consists of ongoing collaboration with the business group leader and the market leader. Further, the successful candidate will work with personnel across all our sectors, since collaboration within all our regions is strongly encouraged.

Technical skills:

• Apply proven experience in process engineering to complete preliminary and detailed design of physical/chemical/biological treatment for wastewater, primary/secondary sludge, and organic matter (e.g., anaerobic digestion including for the production of biogas and renewable natural gas [RNG]).
• Provide QA/QC on all engineering design, calculations, design briefs and technical reports and designs, specifications, and discipline cost estimation.

Business Development & Client Service:

• Identify and lead key projects and opportunities.
• Participate, as needed, in client functions, professional and/or industrial organizations to promote the GHD brand.
• Responsible for process engineering from design to commissioning.
• Responsible for preparing proposals and to actively support pursuit action plans and initiatives.
• Maintain and support effective relationships with Business Group key clients.

People:

• Collaborates with other business groups and leads staff for technical support on projects.
• Work with business group staff, the business group leader, and the market leader to maintain performing project delivery.
• Provide daily hands-on technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technical staff in delivering projects.
• Demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the GHD HSE Management system.

Performance:

• Monitor and manage project backlog, DSO, variances, and markups.
• Development of job/scope of work packages, budgets, and progress.
• Work with business group leader to resource projects and in agreement with the project manager.
• Work in accordance with GHD’s Management Systems for Safety, Integrity, Quality, and Environment.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients and project managers.

Skills, Competencies and Qualifications

• University degree in Chemical Engineering
• Member of OIQ or PEO (or equivalent)
• Minimum 15 years’ experience in project management, design and construction, and personnel training/mentoring
• Knowledge of BioWin and/or other advanced modelling techniques
• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations applicable to wastewater treatment, effluent criteria, the management/utilization of biosolids and organic material, and production/management of biogas and RNG
• A well-established client base that preferably includes major cities and private clients within the region
• Highly developed interpersonal skills, both oral and written
• Bilingual (French and English)
• Excellent people leadership & mentoring skills
• Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
• Available to travel
