As ATB’s next Senior Finance Manager, you will support ATB’s Business Area of Expertise (AOE). This is a strategic planning, analysis and insights position with high connection to senior leaders, provides oversight, financial counsel, and advice. Developing a deep understanding of the business and operations is required to offer valuable, proactive and pragmatic suggestions and solutions. As such, the Senior Manager is responsible for building, developing and refining analysis to support strategic financial planning while identifying emerging patterns or trends that will have an impact on short and long term financial performance. With a major focus on profit, the role will support the development of annual budget and long term targets, aligned with operational and strategic objectives of the unit and the organization.
Senior Finance Manager, Business Accountabilities:
- Model, analyze and break down data to glean insights not readily apparent while translating the information into a format that drives strategic decision making.
- Perform scenario analysis and generate recommendations for strategic movement forward for senior leaders
- Incorporate external into strategic planning and recommendations through proactive understanding of external factors.
- Proactively collaborate with and counsel business to optimize financial performance and ensure the integrity of the planning and reporting process.
- Develop business cases for capital and operating projects to determine value and feasibility. Work with corporate finance to determine project accounting specifications.
- Evolve skills with the use of available technology and tools to best present information that is effective and efficient to the end user.
- Provide support, advice and guidance to business partners and leaders on financial matters and decisions that could impact the bottom line, supported by financial analysis of business performance.
- Enable business performance measurement through development and refinement of tools, processes and practices.
- Provide stewardship that protects the long term health of the business.
- Apply and enforce organizationally accepted financial controls and policies with a view to minimize risk.
- Provide effective leadership, coaching and direction to support other members of the team.
Requirements:
As the ideal candidate you bring:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A University Degree, preferably in the business, financial or economic field. An MBA would be an asset.
- An accounting or financial designation, with preference for a CPA,CMA background.
- Strong financial modelling skills for projection and case based scenarios.
- Ability to succinctly translate information at every level of leadership.
- 10+ years post-designation experience. Financial services experience is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting practices, policies and procedures – GAAP & IFRS, financial statement preparation and analysis, financial modeling & data analysis.
- Strong attention to detail
- Hunger to dive into information and understand key drivers to build assumptions on.
- Experience building a strategic partnerships with senior executives; providing expert advice to all financial and performance management matters utilizing negotiation and problem solving skills
