About this team
This Senior Software Engineer will join the Trade Systems team within our greater Global Fulfillment Technology department. This team supports the technology platforms the business uses for trade compliance programs and duty cost-savings when importing materials and products from our overseas vendors.
This role will focus on the front-end and back-end development of both custom and vendor applications for Trade Systems. We are currently working on enhancements to existing platforms and implementing new vendor technologies. There is also an opportunity to partner with the Lead Engineer to determine the architecture and future vision of these various applications. There is no shortage of interesting and challenging work!
A day in the life:
- Develop and design scalable, secure modern microservices, test driven development, and cloud native design patterns
- Use algorithms, data structures, programming languages and programming paradigms to create, test and operate sustainable client-side or server-side software applications and services
- Deliver software that meets architectural and operational requirements and perform to expectations
- Work with teams to add and refine acceptance criteria and the definition-of-done to user stories
- Deliver quality code using test driven development (TDD) approach with minimal bugs
- Conduct peer reviews of fellow engineers’ work
- Correspond with QA team in the effective testing of code
- Build and extend software applications in varying environments (e.g., cloud, hybrid cloud, and on-premise)
- Provide mentoring to junior engineers
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience; 10+ years in IT
- Experience designing and developing software solutions that provide amazing customer experiences – both on front-end (Angular) and back-end (Java)
- Strong working experience in design and development of RESTful APIs using Java, JSON, Spring Boot and Spring Cloud
- Experience with AWS cloud and implementations from a developer’s perspective
- Technical expertise designing microservices architecture
- Strong software development fundamentals including automated testing, source control, continuous integration in addition to continuous delivery and/or deployment
- Passion for solving problems and strong curiosity to understand how things work
