Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”), the Senior Manager Information Technology (“IT”) is responsible for the organizations business applications and the information technology infrastructure including the Microsoft suite of products, Yardi, internet and Wi-Fi connectivity, communication systems, other business applications, computer, server and display hardware. The Senior Manager will work with the leadership team to ensure IT investments align with the strategic direction of the organization and that processes are in place for making IT related investments. The Senior Manager will oversee the implementation of IT investments ensuring a formalized project management process is in place consummate of the risk associated with each project.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Managing information technology staff by recruiting and training employees, communicating job expectations, and monitoring performance.
- Assessing and managing third party outsourced service providers ensuring service level agreements are in place, monitored, adhered to and organization expectations align with service level metrics.
- Chair the organization’s IT Steering Group responsible for project assessment, approval and delivery.
- Maintains a three-year IT road map aligned with the organization’s strategy.
- Engaging internal and external stakeholders to determine IT needs and ensure IT service level expectations are being met.
- Building and maintaining relationships with all department heads, external partners, and vendors in support of decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals.
- Oversee IT spending and budgets ensuring cost-effectiveness of IT spend.
- Overseeing the third-party service provider ensuring they are monitoring daily operations, including server hardware, software, and operating systems.
- Managing the third-party service provider to ensure security of systems, networks and enterprise information. Ensuring cyber security systems, controls and procedures are operating effectively to manage vulnerabilities, and provide continuous protection from external and internal parties.
- Coordinate technology installations, upgrades, and maintenance.
- Select and purchase new and replacement hardware and software, while maintaining and promoting set standards.
- Direct and support the implementation of software and hardware using a formalized project management approach including scope definition, detailed project plans, setting expectations of stakeholders and implementation team members, setting and monitoring budgets, proactively identifying and managing scope changes and completing postmortem project evaluations.
- Providing reporting of key metrics on service level compliance, ticketing trends and project updates.
- Develops and implements business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss.
- Evaluating technology risks in maintaining a network disaster recovery plan and backup procedures.
- Remaining up to date with advances in technology and industry best practices.
- Work with the Capital Development and Service and Operations teams in scoping and design requirements for IT investments and support these teams in making investment decisions as part of formal purchasing processes.
- Establishing a technology working group with other Housing Management Bodies/Organizations to evolve best practices within Silvera.
- Evaluate, modify, create and oversee IT systems policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications required :
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- ITIL v3/4 or other ITSM best practices certification program.
- Relevant IT Vendor certifications (MSCE, VCP, CCNA etc.).
- Proven competency in monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and communication systems.
- Depth of knowledge in IT infrastructure and operations best practices and emerging technologies.
- Experience managing technical teams and outsourced IT service providers.
- 5+ years’ experience in Operating Systems, Networking, and IT management including application assessments and implementations
- Senior level communication and presentation skills. Experience in preparing materials for senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Ability to work remotely and onsite as required.
- Proficient in computer hardware, cabling installation and support, wireless technology applications and interface, and IT security.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows software, including server, office, and exchange.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Independent thinker and strong problem-solving skills in order to engage in joint problem-solving activities with employees, managers & senior management.
- Ability to work well under pressure, independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to interact with all organization levels including senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage changing priorities.
- Proven experience with M365 and O365, including but not limited to, Azure, Intune, SharePoint intranet, Document Management, OneDrive, Security and Permissions, Teams, Teams Voice, MS Planner, MS Forms, Lists, Power Automate, Power BI.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Experience with Yardi is an asset.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Strong commitment to ensuring deadlines are maintained and achieved.
Hours of Work and Working Environment
- Monday to Friday 8:00am-4:00pm
- 37.5 hours per week – flexibility of hours is available and at times may be necessary (some evenings and weekends may be required
- Must be flexible and have the ability to respond to a variety of changing duties and work routines, on occasion work within somewhat stressful situations
- Must have own reliable vehicle as some travel within Calgary is required
